  1. Simlord
  2. DevTools device mode alternative

An alternative to Chrome DevTools device mode

Chrome's device toolbar is a good debugging tool. It isn't a phone. Simlord is built for the other half of the job, seeing and showing your site the way people see it on their phones.

Add to Chrome, it's freeWorks in Chrome, Edge and Brave. No account needed.

Simlord runs in Chrome on a computer. Open this page there to add it.

Keep DevTools for debugging

Breakpoints, the network panel, throttling and remote debugging are what DevTools is for, and Simlord doesn't replace them. Open DevTools next to Simlord when you need them.

Use Simlord to look and to show

For design reviews, client demos, bug reports and a last check before launch, you want the whole phone, without a developer panel. Simlord fills the tab with the device, keeps your choice while you browse, and saves screenshots and recordings that look like the phone.

Does Simlord replace Chrome DevTools?

No. It does what device mode does for the view and adds browser bars, frames, recordings and comparing. For debugging, keep using DevTools.

Can I use DevTools and Simlord together?

Yes. Open DevTools on the simulator tab as usual.

Why does my page look different in Simlord than in device mode?

Usually because of the browser bars. Simlord leaves the page only the room a real phone leaves it.

Try it on your own site.
